ANTICIPATED DECAY, TOWARDS A GRAND RUIN
Initiated & curated by Elena Khurtova and Marie Ilse Bourlanges.
Students from 1st and 2nd year of the department of Inter-Architecture of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie presented the final step and outcome of the course ‘Material Experimentations’ in an exhibition, hosted by deServiceGarage, Amsterdam.
The theme of ‘Anticipated Decay’ is chosen to raise a crucial question in the fields of Design and Architecture: what ‘use’ may mean outside the restrictions ordinarily set by function and consumption. During the exhibition, students presented and demonstrated various approaches on how ‘use’ is in fact more than mere ‘utility’.
The variety of projects developed by students is captured in a special publication by graphic design students Miguel Hervás Gómez, Andrada Smaranda and Velislava Dakova.
