E/merging Patterns confronts the normativity of systems that are dear to us. Characteristics of cancerous cell behaviour were employed as parameters in the design of beautiful objects. The resulting ‘patterns’ offer an experience of the body that begins where the usefulness of the healthy body ends. In order to produce such fine, porcelain objects, the designers merged the material sensitivity of ceramics and the precision of CAD/CAM technology.
