Performance
Duration 30 min
Paper 420 x 300 cm, 2 soils from Amstelpark, glass jars for sedimentation, glass carafes with water
In this transient performance Elena Khurtova enlarges the process of drawing to a bodily scale and invites the viewer into the intimate and volatile process of soil dialogues. Resembling the capillarity process of soil-chromatography and evocative Rorschach tests, soil particles travel on a horizontal wet paper surface: spreading and crawling, flocking and coming apart. From stable, concrete and solid to fluid and slowly settling and solidifying again, beyond the duration of performative gestures, the remaining soil work - two soils from Amstelpark - continually transforms and traces passing of time.
