Unwrap
Spatial installation - soils and mould on Montperrin Hospital bedsheets
Unwrap - is a residue of Khurtova's process of collaborating with soil during her residency at 3bisF Contemporary Art Centre in Aix-en-Provence, FR which is located in a former isolation pavilion for women at the Montperrin psychiatric hospital. During the time in residence, Khurtova researched displacement and soil management terrains as physical archives of excavated soil.
Archive Event VII 'Honeycombing' is a dual presentation from artists Elena Khurtova and Marie Ilse Bourlanges. In archival terminologies, the term ‘honeycombing’ refers to a technique of leaving open spaces in storage shelving to allow for additions to existing collections.
'Honeycombing' is organized around the launch of Elena Khurtova's artist book 'Displace' and 'Mothers's Milk' by Marie Ilse Bourlanges, published by Jap Sam Books, alongside the works, research and conversations that have accompanied them.
